The State Trading Organization (STO) has said that the people will be able to buy onions without any difficulty, assuring continued supply.
STO said in its media Viber group today that it has no difficulty in getting onions from India. STO will continue to supply onions as before, without any interruptions.
"Looking at the market trend of the past two months, the price of onion in the Maldivian market has been declining. STO is fully prepared to avoid any difficulty in getting basic food items during the coming Ramadan," STO said.
Every Ramadan, traders raise the prices of some food items in the market. However, prices are kept stable by importing large quantities of these items and making them available to the public at cheap prices.
