The Auditor General's Office (AGO) has stated that changes made to the parliament's rules to not count vacant seats for the parliament quorum were made outside the parliament mandate.

The AG had filed a case with the Supreme Court, challenging the amendment to the parliament's rules to count the quorum without vacant seats.

The first hearing of the case was held today.

During the hearing at the Supreme Court today, the AG's representative, Counsel General Fathimath Haleem, argued that the change to the rules was outside the parliament mandate as per the Constitution.
