Local Government Minister Adam Shareef expressed his belief that Thinadhoo City, like the Maldives as a whole, will witness revolutionary development under President Mohamed Muizzu's leadership.
President Muizzu visited Thinadhoo today as part of his tour of the Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll and interacted with the island's residents. During the interaction, Adam Shareef revealed that President Solih was the first to envision granting Thinadhoo city status. He went on to explain that upon President Muizzu's announcement, the former administration had conferred city status upon Thinadhoo.
"Following the President's vision, the city was established by the former administration. Hence, it is a little difficult now. However, under the leadership of President Dr. Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, this city will witness remarkable progress, unlike any other place in the Maldives. Thinadhoo City is now poised to become a shining example of the Maldives' development and progress," said Adam Shareef.
Adam Shareef further stated that President Solih is working to empower councils and ensure their active participation in all aspects of development.
However, Adam Shareef also cautioned that challenges remain, including large debts and loans. He emphasized the need to prioritize national security and the protection of Maldivian sovereignty, while also calling upon President Muizzu to address the debt burden and seek favorable loan terms.
Adam Shareef concluded by expressing his confidence that President Muizzu's visionary leadership will lead to economic prosperity and overall development for the Maldives.
