President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the system in Maldives is one that leaves people hopeless.
Speaking to the people of Madaveli, the President said that the Maldives does not have a full presidential system or a full-fledged parliamentary system.
He said that the government could not work unless the people's decision was taken twice, referring to the presidential election and the parliament's decision.
"This system is neither fully presidential, nor fully parliamentary. Under the current system, if the Parliament misuses their power, it would lead to dire situations in the country," President Dr. Muizzu said.
He said the current system in Maldives leaves people hopeless, but the latter have the right to make things right during the Parliamentary elections.
