Chief Superintendent of Police Ahmed Shifan has been appointed as the police spokesperson.

Prior to this, assistant commissioner of police Abdulla Nawaz filled the role of police spokesperson.

According to police media, Shifan has been appointed as spokesperson in addition to his current duties of heading the police commissioner's office.

Shifan also served as a police spokesperson during former president Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom's administration.

Shifan was previously the head of the National College of Policy and Law Enforcement (Police College) and was previously the head of the Male' City Police.
