President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has said that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has also praised the Maldives for the measures to bring the economy back on track.

Speaking to the people of Maradhoo-Feydhoo this evening as part of the President's visit to Addu City, the President said that during his recent visit to Dubai, the Director General of the IMF also highlighted the economic measures taken by the Maldives.

"I met the IMF Director General during my visit to Dubai and told her about it. The economic policies of this government will lead the economy back on the right track. Our economy will grow. My appeal to the people is to have faith in this cause. To trust the government and give the economy a chance to grow," President Dr. Muizzu said.

He said that the most difficult thing was to stop printing money and that he made the decision even though printing money would be the easy way out.

"But it's not beneficial for the country, it's not good for the people. It's not good for families, for the future. If we continue to print money, the debt per head will increase by hundreds of millions," he said.

He further said that he would stick to the promise made during the campaign that he would stop printing money and that it would be the best way for the people to get the best out of it.
