Maradhoo MP Ibrahim Shareef (Mawota) has said that he joined the ruling PNC after a lot of consideration, even if it costs him his parliament seat.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, who began his visit to four atolls in the south today, held his first meeting with the people of Maradhoo and Maradhoo-Feydhoo. During the meeting held at Irshadhiyya School, Shareef said that MDP does not wish well for the Maldives, adding that MDP has set various buildings on fire in Addu.
"I joined the PPM-PNC alliance after a lot of consideration. I accepted the fact that it might cost me my seat in parliament. That's exactly what happened. I joined PNC because I disagree with MDP's views to create chaos in the nation," Shareef said.
He said that when President Dr. Muizzu took office, the country's economy was in dire straits, but president Dr. Muizzu's team was confident that the country's economy would stabilise.
Shareef said that President Dr. Muizzu's government will repay all the debts taken by former president Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's government, adding that he is confident that President Dr. Muizzu can do things in the best interest of the country.
He added that the President has been showing that he can get things done. Adding that former president Solih was uncontactable, Shareef said that President Dr. Muizzu is a responsive president who seeks immediate solutions to problems.
