The health system will be shaped in a way so that patients will not have to wait for a doctor's appointment, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has said.
In the government's "Raeesge Javaabu" program, a person asked the President about the problem of not getting doctor's appointments and doctors not being on time.
Replying to the question, President Muizzu said that strengthening the health system is one of the most important policies of this government and he is working to increase the number of specialists in the Maldives.
"In addition, recruiting people from abroad for areas where there are no specialists in the country is already underway. So the more specialists we have, the less the waiting time will be, “ he said.
The President said that exact date and details will be provided with an appointment, shaping the system in a way so that people will not have to wait any longer. He further stated that they are also working to make it possible for doctors to wait as long as possible to provide services in hospitals.
"So we are hopefully working to find a solution to the highlighted problems. Then as many specialists and super specialists as possible can be added in these areas, the less time we have to wait," he said.
The President added that the work to improve the services of the hospitals is going very fast and they will be improved. He said that the work of improving the facilities in the rural areas as well as in the Male area will be carried out very fast where there are tertiary hospitals.
