Former Foreign Minister Dunya Maumoon has filed her candidacy papers to contest the upcoming parliamentary elections as an independent candidate.
Dunya, is contesting for the Hulhumale' South constituency.
Dunya also contested the PPM/PNC parliamentary primary held on the 27th of last month. However, Shaniz Hashim (Shanko) defeated Dunya in the primary. He received 240 votes while Dunya received 70 votes.
In a post on X today, Dunya said that she is contesting for Hulhumale South at the request of many people in the constituency.
Dunya's candidacy form was submitted to the Election Commission today. Her brother and MRM President Ahmed Faris Maumoon was also present.
