The next housing projects will have units allotted for employees in the tourism industry, President Mohamed Muizzu has stated.

The President was responding to a question by a Maldivian employee involved in the tourism industry in the 'Raeesge Javaabu' program.

The President said the Cabinet has decided to implement a special housing scheme to provide housing to employees working in the tourism industry under social housing projects.

President Muizzu said the next housing projects will also provide that.

"We are now starting a lot of work on that. We hope to get that opportunity within this year," he said.

The President said housing projects are being implemented in various areas and the projects will also provide housing to the employees working in the tourism industry.

"This means that it is not only the housing units in the area that will provide flats or housing units to tourism workers. Housing projects can be implemented in different parts of the country," he explained.

A special housing scheme for employees in the tourism industry is a presidential promise.
