Maldives Parliament has postponed scheduling the approval of three Cabinet Ministers who were initially rejected by the Parliament.

The Parliament had previously approved 19 of the 22 Cabinet Ministers of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu. Following the rejection of three Ministers, they were re-appointed to the position, with their names being submitted into the Parliament for approval once again.

Former Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Eva Abdullah, has moved a resolution in Parliament today saying that the re-appointment of three ministers who were not approved by Parliament is unconstitutional and illegal.

The Parliament, in a directive from the Speaker, said it would be known how to proceed when the Parliament passes the resolution to deal with the issue of the second appointment of the three ministers.

Therefore, the Parliament has decided to postpone the scheduling of ministerial approval until all works related to the resolution submitted by MP Eva is finalized.

The parliament voted not to approve Islamic Minister Mohamed Shaheem, Attorney General Ahmed Usham and Housing Minister Dr. Ali Haider. They were re-appointed to the same posts on the same day.
