A man has been arrested for smuggling drugs into the country through DHL.

A 24-year-old Maldivian man has been arrested in connection with the case.

He was produced before Criminal Court yesterday and remanded in police custody for a month.

According to the detention order, the police confirmed that the parcel containing the contraband belonged to him when the phone number on the package and the phone number he was carrying matched.

The accused was arrested when he went to DHL to check the parcel, but it is not clear the type or the quantity of drugs found in the package.
