President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has said that various economic opportunities will be expanded to create a platform for people to earn money by selling products made in their islands.
The President made the remarks in a video posted by the President's Office on social media today. In a video posted by the President's Office on social media of 'Raees ge Javaabu', he was asked whether there could be job opportunities for people in the island without having to move to Male' after A Levels.
In his reply, President Dr. Muizzu said that being in a particular island will not close the door to earning on his own.
The President said that he is aware that there are very few economic and income opportunities in Th. Atoll. There is only one resort in the atoll and efforts will be made to provide income to the people of the atoll.
"There is only one resort in the atoll, so jobs can be provided by bringing industries here, expanding tourism, bringing in more resorts, or bringing in more fishing opportunities, or by creating a creative economy for the youth," President Dr. Muizzu said.
He said that the youth's talent could also be extended to foreign markets through the payment gateway system through online commerce.
"Where one lives will not matter in that case. People can earn while staying in their own islands," President Dr. Muizzu said.
He also said that he plans to expand the economy so that young people who want to work in any form of work can also work within the atoll.
"So I am going to prioritise bringing resorts and expanding the variety of opportunities. This atoll has not received a lot of opportunities in the past. As such, I would like to assure that I will create opportunities in this atoll," President. Dr. Muizzu said.
