The Maldivian tourism industry has set a new record for the highest number of tourist arrivals in January.

According to the Tourism Ministry, 192,385 tourists arrived in the Maldives last month. It was the highest number of tourist arrivals recorded in the history of Maldives' tourism in January.

The number of tourists arriving in January this year was 11.5 percent higher than the same month last year. As such, 172,499 tourists arrived in January last year.

A total of 131,765 tourists arrived in January 2022, 173,347 in 2021, and 177,140 in January

In January this year, an average of 6,206 tourists arrived in the Maldives every day and spent an average of 7.9 days, according to the Ministry of Tourism.
