President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the government will provide necessary support for the development of Gaathurehaa and Kuredifushi, which fall under the jurisdiction of Th. Omadhoo.
The island council wants to connect the island with Gaathurehaa and expand local tourism in the island, and the council hopes to build a city hotel in Kuredifushi.
President Dr. Muizzu, who arrived in the island this morning as the seventh destination of his visit to Th. Atoll, said that the government would cooperate with the development needs of the island and would do things in a specific manner.
He said some of the initiatives have to be postponed due to the state of the country's economy.
Pointing out that one of the major problems faced by the island is that of the school, he said that the issue of school space, teachers' issue and resource expansion will be given priority.
"Secondly, there is water and sanitation. We are focusing on that and looking at ways to generate revenue," he said.
He said that while it was not possible at the moment to connect Gaathurehaa with the island, it would be possible as the economic situation improves.
"There are two uninhabited islands here. The assurance I want to give is that the administration will support the council to develop these two islands," he said.
He said the government will provide all the necessary support for the development of the island. He added that the IMF has accepted the government's plans to boost the country's economy, which will give confidence to investors.
He added that the government will not differentiate between any island.
