Election Commission has said more than 13,000 voters have applied for re-registration to cast their votes in the upcoming Parliament.
In a post on X, Vice President Ismail Habib said that 13,378 people had applied for re-registration in the last seven days after the commission opened the process for re-registration.
Of these, only 11,919 were re-registered and 1,459 were not accepted by the commission.
Habib said that only Malaysia and Sri Lanka have completed the deadline for re-registration to vote abroad. If the parliamentary elections are to be held during Ramadan, the EC will also give more time for re-registration.
Voters can check the box they are registered to vote in the parliamentary elections through SMS to 1414 and on the EC's website.
The EC has now fixed March 17 as the 7th day of Ramadan,
