President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and his wife have moved to the official residence of the President, Muliaage.
One Online has learned that the first couple made the move to Muliaage before the President began his current visit to Thaa Atoll.
The President continued to reside in his residence at H. Dhimyath despite being sworn in as the President on November 17th. Muliaage at that time required some renovations.
Muliaage was built during the reign of Sultan Muhammad Shamsuddin. In 1994, then President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom also lived temporarily in Muliaage until Theemuge was built.
Then in 2008, former President Mohammed Nasheed lived in Muliarge until his resignation in 2012.
The previos government’s president, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, stayed at the presidential palace, Muliaage, until November 10th.
The residence of a President must meet certain security standards. These standards are set and enforced by law to the MNDF.
