Lawmakers have urged President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu to hand over the flats to all the recipients of the 4,000 flats that were given out during former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's government.
The members called for the handover of the flats to the selected beneficiaries during the debate on a motion moved by Galolhu North MP Eva Abdullah.
Moving the motion, Eva said the housing issue is still an important issue that has not been resolved. Meanwhile, the release of the permanent list of 4,000 flat recipients under the 'Binveriyaa' scheme has given sweet hope to thousands of families to live a beautiful and simple life, she said.
Noting the delays in the handover of these flats, MP Eva said that the flats should be handed over to all eligible beneficiaries as identified by the ACC through their investigations.
She also urged the government to continue the process of providing flats as soon as possible as it is the most important thing to address the suffering of those who are building families in difficult circumstances.
All the MPs who spoke in the debate on the issue called for the handover of the flats as soon as possible.
