President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that he hopes to start work on the causeway connecting Madifushi with Dhiyamigili within this year.

The President, during his visit to Dhiyamigili said that he wanted to work closely with the people.

He said that a lot of things are required for the development of the island as well, but a strategy should be worked out in consultation with the ministries concerned.

The President said that projects cannot be taken up in one go and the economic situation in the country is worse than that, adding that development projects will also be taken up as the economic situation improves.

"Connecting the biggest islands through a causeway is a commitment I have made. It's going to be a reality. Hopefully, the project will begin this year as well, and it is my aim to start its phases in the middle of the year," he said.

Connecting Dhiyamigili with Madifushi through a causeway is a presidential pledge of the president.
