Kaashidhoo MP Abdulla Jabir has been ousted from MDP for speaking to the people rudely.
In a press release issued tonight, MDP said that Jabir has repeatedly acted in a way that detracts from the interests of the people by using rude language against the general standards of society.
"The party's action committee has decided not to allow Abdullah Jabir to contest the 20th parliamentary elections and to expel him from the party from today," the party's action committee said.
Jabir, will be allowed to rejoin MDP based on the decision by the party's national assembly. Even if he is allowed to rejoin the party, Jabir will not be able to contest any party post or primary for five years, MDP said.
Jabir has secured the MDP ticket for the Kaashidhoo constituency for the upcoming Parliamentary Election. With his expulsion, has now lost his chance to contest on the MDP ticket.
Jabir first signed up for DRP. He later joined MDP, leaving before being elected to the 19th Parliament as an independent candidate. However, after being elected to parliament, Jabir rejoined DRP and took over as the party's leader. Jabir has since rejoined the MDP.
