President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the administration will not hire any additional political appointees.
In his first presidential address to open the Parliament this year, President Muizzu said the government's plan is to improve the country's financial situation and bring the debt and fiscal situation to a sustainable level. It is essential for the country's economic and financial future, he said.
"I have decided I will not appoint any more senior political positions other than in exceptional circumstances, to reduce government expenditure," he further added.
President Muizzu has said that he will not appoint more people to senior political posts. He has previously said that he will not increase the number of political posts to more than 700. There are currently about 300 people in political positions in the government.
