President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has said that he will not allow anyone to interfere with the country's sovereignty.

In his presidential address at the Parliament this morning, President Dr. Muizzu said that as agreed during the discussions with the Maldives, the Indian troops on one of the three aviation platforms in the Maldives will leave by March 10, while the troops on the remaining two platforms will leave by May 10.

"Maldives will not renew the agreement with India to chart the country's inner and underwater charts. We will not allow any country to interfere with or undermine our sovereignty," President Dr. Muizzu said.

He said when he took over as the President of the Maldives on November 17 last year, his biggest promise to the people was to protect the freedom and self-determination of indigenous people.

"The overwhelming majority of the Maldivian people's support for our government is in line with our support for sending foreign troops from the Maldives, reclaiming the lost part of the country's waters, and scrapping any agreement made by the state in a way that undermines the sovereignty of the Maldives," he said.
