No country should be allowed to enter Maldives' Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) without permission, former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has said.
The President was speaking to reporters at Jamaluddin School today to vote in the MDP parliamentary primary held today. He stated that it is also in violation of international norms and he calls for an investigation and publication of what happened as soon as possible.
Besides, if that had happened, it would have been very wrong and no country should enter another country's territory, he said.
The former President's remarks come amid reports of Indian coast guards raiding fishing boats in Maldivian waters.
The Indian Coast Guard raided three Maldivian fishing boats with weapons on Wednesday and on Thursday night, the MNDF said. A video of the boats being searched on Wednesday has also been circulating on social media.
In response, the Maldivian government has officially requested the Indian government to provide information on the operation conducted by the Indian military against three Maldivian fishing boats.
