Two men arrested over the attack onProsecutor General Hussain Shameem have been remanded until the end of the trial.

The accused have been identified as R. Alifushi, Rivelli (now Residential Address: Male', H. Fennigalida), Midhath Adam (23) and L. Gan, Thundi, Jawahirvila (current Residential Address: Male', H. Fenigalida) Mohamed Jazlan (22).

The police have charged them with assault and criminal breach of trust using a dangerous weapon. They were arrested by the police today and produced before a criminal court today.

In the criminal court, the police said that during investigation, it has been found that the two men used a hammer during the attack. CCTV footage shows that they tried to hit the victim on the head but hit the victim's hand instead.

Judge Ibrahim Zihuni, who presided over the hearing, said the police had produced enough evidence to show that they had committed the crimes alleged by the police against them. The judge said that they had submitted snapshots of CCTV footage, which showed that they were involved in the attack on the victim.

Judge Zihuni ordered the two men to remain in custody until the end of the trial, fearing a threat to the safety of the community, and asked the IO to complete the investigation at the earliest.

The judge said that the accused should be lodged in a custodial jail till the investigation is completed and they should be lodged in a remand jail during the trial.

When ordered to remain in custody, Mohammad Jazlan requested that he be allowed to become a lawyer. The judge said that once a lawyer is satisfied, he will be allowed to file an application for a review of his detention.
