Male' City Council has opened the opportunity to file complaints regarding the parking spaces sold.
In an announcement issued today, the City Council said that if there is any complaint regarding the parking lease for four-wheelers, the complaint form can be submitted to the Council starting today till the 5th of February.
City Council added that those who did not make any further communications after receiving the parking slot and those who did not sign the agreement after being informed that they had received the parking slot as well as other complaints can be filed according to the announcement.
Male' City Council further stated that complaints can be filed through a complaint portal on their website or through a letter to the general services section of the Council.
In February 2022, the Male' City Council opened up parking spaces for rent. Taxis are charged MVR 650, private cars MVR 1,500, and company cars MVR 3,000 per month for the parking spaces.
The parking lots were leased out for a maximum period of one year. When the slots were opened, everyone was allowed to apply for slots from three different locations.
In the past, when many people applied for parking spaces allotted by the City Council, most of the slots were allotted from areas where bikes were usually parked. At the time, there were a lot of public concerns, including allegations that some parking spaces were not sold appropriately.
Adam Azim, who is now the Mayor of Male' City, had promised to open it to complaints during the by-election campaign. He has said that he will also seek responses to the allegations leveled against the Male' City Council.
