Maldives parliament on Monday approved X ministers out of the 22 appointed to the cabinet by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
The Ministers who were approved include Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed, Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer, Defence Minister Mohamed Ghassan, Finance Minister Dr. Mohamed Shafeeq, Fisheries Minister Ahmed Shiyam, Health Minister Dr. Abdulla Khaleel, Education Minister Dr. Ismail Shafeeu, Home Minister Ali Ihusaan, Tourism Minister Ibrahim Faisal, Social Minister Aishath Shiham, Sports Minister Abdulla Raafiu, Environment Minister Thoriq Ibrahim, Transport Minister Mohamed Ameen, Minister of Dhivehi Language Adam Naseer, Minister of Higher Education Dr. Maryam Mariya, Minister of Construction Abdulla Muththalib, Minister of Agriculture Aishath Rameela, Minister of Youth Ibrahim Waheed, LGA Minister Adam Shareef.
The number of votes each minister received:
- Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed: 37 votes in favor
- Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer: 71 votes in favor
- Defence Minister Mohamed Ghassan: 71 votes in favor
- Finance Minister Dr. Mohamed Shafeeq: 70 votes in favor
- Fisheries Minister Ahmed Shiyam: 69 votes in favor
- Health Minister Abdulla Khaleel: 69 votes in favor
- Education Minister Dr. Ismail Shafeeu: 55 votes in favor, 9 against
- Home Minister Ali Ihusaan: 68 votes in favor, 1 against
- Tourism Minister Ibrahim Faisal: 57 votes in favor
- Social Minister Aishath Shiham: 69 votes in favor
- Sports Minister Abdulla Rafiu: 70 votes in favor
- Environment Minister Thoriq Ibrahim: 69 votes in favor
- Housing Minister Ali Haider: 24 votes in favor, 46 against
- Minister of Transport Mohamed Ameen: 67 votes in favor, 1 against
- Minister of Dhivehi Language Adam Naseer: 63 votes in favor
- Minister of Higher Education Dr. Maryam Mariya: 66 votes in favor, 1 against
- Minister of Construction Abdulla Muththalib: 70 votes in favor
- Minister of Agriculture Aishath Rameela: 70 votes in favor
- Minister of Youth Ibrahim Waheed: 68 votes in favor
- LGA Minister Adam Shareef: 70 votes in favor
Attorney General Ahmed Usham, and Islamic Minister Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, as well as Housing Minister Dr. Ali Haider, are among the ministers who were rejected by the parliament. As such, Usham only received 24 votes in favor and 44 against him while Shaheem received 30 votes in favor and 31 against him. Housing Minister Haider received 24 votes in favor and 46 against.
