The Chinese company that built Hiyaa flats has proposed to build 15,000 housing units in RasMale'.

Principal Secretary to the President on Public Policy Abdullah Nazim Ibrahim told a press conference after the Cabinet meeting yesterday that China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) has expressed interest in the project and submitted a proposal.

The Economic Council has decided that the proposal should be jointly discussed by the Housing Ministry and the Infrastructure Ministry on issues related to cost and quality, he said.

30,000 housing units will be built in RasMale' with Chinese assistance, Minister Haider said in a PSM program. The government will announce more information later, he said.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu during his visit to China earlier this month signed 20 agreements with the country. These include an agreement for the construction of social housing units in RasMale'. The President also met with the heads of several Chinese construction companies during his visit.
