The Progressive Congress Coalition, which includes PPM/PNC, has said that refusing to approve the members of the Cabinet formed to implement the policies of the government is an obstacle to the government's efforts for the benefit of the people.
The Democrats and MDP have decided not to approve some ministers. The two parties have decided to work together in parliament to hold the government accountable.
Attorney General Ahmed Usham, Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer, Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed, Housing Minister Ali Haider and Islamic Minister Dr. Mohamed Shaheem are the ministers both parties refuse to approve.
The Progressive Congress Coalition said in a statement today that it is the responsibility of the President to create the ministries and agencies needed to implement his policies and appoint competent persons to run them.
The state ministries are run by the President. The coalition said the ministers appointed by Mohammed Muizzu are capable and experienced in running the ministries and will fulfill their responsibilities and work for the welfare of the people.
In the statement, the Progressive Congress Coalition added that the refusal to approve ministers without any degree of opportunity and evaluation is a lack of cooperation in the running of the government and a blatant obstruction of the service to the people.
The Democrats and the MDP have decided not to approve some ministers. The debate on the issue has already been completed in an extraordinary session of the Parliament. A vote on the approval of the ministers will be held at 1:30 pm today.
