There is no basis for the opposition’s claims that some ministers should not be approved, Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef has stated.

The Vice President's remarks came after the Democrats' parliamentary group decided not to approve some ministers.

The Vice President said in a post on X today that consent to the ministers chosen by the President is the noblest rule of democracy.

"The noblest rule of democracy is that the Parliament approves the ministers chosen by the President. I believe the arguments made by some parties against this are baseless," he said.

The Democrats, as well as the MDP, have decided not to approve some ministers. Both parties have decided to work together in parliament to hold the government accountable.
