The PNC has become the minority party in the parliament after 12 former MDP MPs joined the ruling People's Congress.

The announcement was made by the Speaker of Parliament, Mohammed Aslam today.

Therefore, Aslam said the minority leader of the parliament is the leader of the PNC Parliamentary Group (PG), Fonadhoo MP Moosa Siraj.

Today's session of the Parliament will be held out of session at the request of MPs due to the issue of approval of ministers and urgent changes to some laws.

There are 12 members of the MDP in the Parliament who have joined the PNC, and the Election Commission (EC) has informed the Parliament that they have now been included in the PNC register.

The Speaker said that with this change, the PNC is now the minority party in the parliament as it has the second largest number of members in the parliament. The minority leader of the parliament is PNC Parliamentary Group (PG) leader Moosa Siraj.

Moosa Siraj is also a former MDP member. He switched to the PNC during the last presidential election.
