The Islamic Charity Fund of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs has donated 32 medical beds to the Center for People with Special Needs in K. Guraidhoo.
These beds are state-of-the-art medical beds worth a total of MVR 504,000.
Minister for Social and Family Development Dr. Aishath Shiham accepted the items on behalf of the Ministry at a ceremony held at the Islamic Center today.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Aishath Shiham said that she was happy to see that the people's welfare efforts were succeeding under the leadership of President Dr. Muizzu, adding that research has shown that the level of care for the most vulnerable in the society is a measure of the sensitivity of the society.
The Minister said that the people at K. Guraidhoo Centre are people's loved ones and the real aim of the centre is to bring the people there back to the society and provide a dignified happy life.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Shaheem said that sentimentality is an integral part of Islam and it is one of the most important social values of the Islamic society to be kind to those in need of special assistance.
Minister Shaheem further said that the Centre for People with Special Needs has been supported by the charity funds donated by the people to help in the renovation of mosques and religious activities.
