The Maldives has held discussions with the French government regarding the reduction of duties on fish imported from Europe.
Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer called on French Ambassador to the Maldives Jean-François Pactet yesterday.
During the meeting, Minister Zameer discussed with the ambassador the issue of reducing duty from fish imported to Europe, the Foreign Ministry said.
The Ministry said Minister Zameer also discussed economic development, climate change and security cooperation, enhancing bilateral relations and making it easier for Maldivians to travel to Europe.
Ambassador Jean-François Pactet expressed his desire to work closely with the Government of Maldives to enhance cooperation between the two countries, the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement.
The previous government had held discussions with the European Union (EU) and European heads of state on reducing duties on imports from the Maldives to Europe.
