The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has sent a letter to the Prosecutor General’s Office seeking prosecution of the former Managing Director of Maldives Gas, Abdulla Maumoon.
The ACC said in a statement today that the investigation into the case initiated by the commission revealed that during the tenure of Maanu as the Managing Director of Maldive Gas, he took MVR 3,106,189 as bribe from the company during a transaction to procure cooking gas (LPG). The money has been deposited in several companies allegedly linked to him and some of his family members.
The ACC has requested seven charges including bribery, abuse of office, attempting to commit a crime, solicitation to commit a crime, conspiracy to commit a crime, accepting a bribe and abuse of official position for profit.
The ACC has also ordered the recovery of MVR 3,106,189 involved in the case.
