Former Vice President Faisal Naseem, who has been a member of the Jumhooree Party (JP) since its inception, has left the party after 16 years.
Faisal also served as the Vice President in the last government in a slot in the ruling coalition JP.
"One" has learned that Faisal has sent a letter of resignation from the JP today.
Faisal, has left JP but he has not yet joined any other political party.
However, Faisal has been working with MDP since the last presidential election. Faisal also supported President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih in the presidential election.
Faisal, who left JP, also campaigned for MDP in the Male' City Council by-election held on 13th of this month.
Faisal started his political career in 2004 in the Special Assembly of the People's Majilis. He served in the Special Assembly as a member for Fuvahmulah. Then, in 2005, Faisal signed up for MDP.
After that, Faisal signed up for JP in 2008 when Qasim announced that he would contest the presidential election. After that, he remained in JP to this day.
Before becoming Vice President, Faisal was elected as a Member of Parliament for Kaashidhoo constituency in the 2014 parliamentary elections.
