State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) has procured two generators ahead of the hot season.

STELCO said on Saturday that the company has started the process of bringing back two high-speed container generator sets of 1.6 MW each each to prepare for the hot season.

With two more generator sets before summer, a total of 6.4 MW will be added to STELCO's power generation capacity and power security will be enhanced in the male' area with the assurance that people will be able to get uninterrupted 24-hour power supply even during the hot season.

STELCO said the company will always remain committed to providing full service to the people and the expectations and spirit of its management and employees will always remain on that path.

STELCO said that the sixth power development project, the largest power project undertaken by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's administration, will begin soon and the company will bring about a revolutionary change in the country's power sector.

Highlighting STELCO's preparations for the upcoming hot season, Ibrahim Shajiu Abdul Shahid, Chief Electrical Engineer at STELCO said the company is in the process of overhauling STELCO engines to prepare for the hot season.

"It is one of the biggest generators installed in the city and the second overhaul is now operational. It is almost estimated that it will be completed in the next 25 days. We will need it for for the hot season. That's why we started working on it yesterday. Efforts are being made to provide its services online to the people within 25 days," Shajiu said.

It has been observed in the past that there is a significant increase in power consumption during the hot season.
