Indian woman who traveled from Maldives tests positive to new variant of Covid

An Indian woman who recently traveled back to India from Maldives has tested positive to the new variant of Covid-19.

Indian media reported that the woman traveled back from Maldives in December and tested positive for Covid-19 on 13 December. She had a genome test done at All India Institute of Medical Science (AIMS).

The woman has tested positive for JN-1 sub variant of Covid-19 according to India's Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) reports. She has since fully recovered from Covid, the media reports said.

A Health Protection Agency (HPA) media official told 'One' that the Agency is not aware of a JN-1 sub variant breakout in Maldives as of yet.
