The government has decided to create another company as the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) is overloaded with development projects.
Principal Secretary on Public Policy Abdullah Nazim Ibrahim told a news conference at the President's Office today that the Cabinet had discussed the establishment of such a company.
"There is a lot of work in MTCC now. The number of works is more than they can do and the projects are too big," Nazim said.
MTCC was the company that implemented the most projects in the previous government, and operates on a profit.
However, the Construction Minister of this government, Dr. Abdullah Muthalib said 46 projects awarded to MTCC have come to a halt.
