The ruling People's National Congress (PNC) has won three seats in five by-elections held yesterday.

The by-elections held yesterday included South Maafannu, Central Henveiru and South Henveiru constituencies along with the seat for Male' Mayor and Meemu Mulaku WDC.

MDP member Adam Azim won the election with 7,621 votes. PNC candidate Aishath Azima Shakoor got the second-highest number of votes. 17,410 of the 54,680 eligible voters cast their ballots.

PNC candidate Aminath Rishfa Ahmed won the South Henveiru council seat. She won the seat with 411 votes. The PNC also won the South Maafannu seat with 383 votes.

Rilwan Rasheed won the Central Henveiru seat with 320 votes.

In addition, the PNC candidate also won the membership of the Mulaku WDC. Zaeema Abdul Rasheed won the seat with 243 votes.
