President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has said that the Maldives has held discussions with China to ease the loan repayments to the latter.
Speaking to reporters at the VIP lounge of Velana International Airport after concluding his official visit to China, he said the two countries discussed easing the existing plan or schedule to repay the loans taken from China.
"When I submitted this to the Chinese President, he immediately informed the relevant officials during official talks and requested them to send a technical team to the Maldives soon to devise an easier way to pay the loans due to China for the next five years," he said.
He said the country would soon send a finance team to study and decide how to repay the loans as easily as possible within five years.
President Dr. Muizzu said that this has been settled and it will bring a lot of relief in the repayment of loans.
