President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that national health scheme Aasandha services will be extended to Thailand and UAE.
Speaking to reporters at the VIP lounge of Velana International Airport after completing his official visit to China, the President said special economic zones would be developed as planned to develop the economy. The President also said that the Maldives International Financial Services Authority will be established under which international financial centers will be established in different parts of the country.
The President said that such projects will save the country from the debt traps set by the previous government.
The President said that instead of the Aasandha service being available in medical facilities in a particular country, it has been decided to expand it to other countries.
We will hopefully expand our Aasandha to better-quality countries such as the UAE and Thailand. We will also expand Aasandha to include accommodation expenses.
He further stated that until the country's health system is developed into better standards, Maldivians will now seek healthcare in hospitals from places such as Dubai and Bangkok.
