A pipe in the pump station at Maldives Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) has been damaged due to bad weather.

MWSC said the pipe in question was at the 8th pump station.

In a post on X, MWSC said the repair works have commenced after assessing the damages to the pipe and that this would not cause any disruptions to the services by MWSC.

Male' city has been experiencing continuous rainfall since Friday morning, leading to flooding. MNDF's Fire and Rescue Service has been actively working on pumping out flood water from the city.

MET Office has also issued a yellow alert between Kaafu and Meemu atoll until 1800hrs.
