The Criminal Court has sentenced Bangladeshi national Mohammedul Hassan to 10 years in prison for attacking a man with a knife.

The case pertains to an incident that took place in December 2020.

Hasan attacked the Production Manager, Saravanan Sundar Rajan, and stabbed him inside the City Bakery on Nikagasmagu. Hasan himself worked as a shelf in-charge of the bakery.

The two got into a fight after Rajan dissatisfied with the food prepared at the bakery that day. Hasan was enraged at Rajan’s remarks the latter going to HR to sort it out, leading to Hassan picking up the knife he was using to cut bread and attacking Rajan. The latter was stabbed in the neck and head and was treated for these injuries at ADK.

Hasan was sentenced to 10 years in prison by the Criminal Court under the Act on Prohibiting ‎Threatening and Possession of Dangerous Weapons and Sharp Objects. After deducting the time spent in custody, he will serve a sentence of seven years and 25 days in prison.
