Some Indians are running a campaign called “Boycott Maldives” amid controversy on social media over the strong anti-campaign against holidays in the Maldives in the name of promoting Lakshadweep in the Union Territory of India.

Maldives is a holiday destination for many Bollywood stars, but the issue has escalated and some popular Bollywood stars have called for a boycott including Salman Khan, John Abraham and Shraddha Kapoor.

Akshay Kumar posted on X that India and Maldives are close neighbors and India is good to its neighbors but hate speech is unacceptable. So he urged them to go to Lakshadweep instead of traveling to the Maldives.
