Al Jazeera journalist Wael Dahdouh's son Hamza Dahdouh has been killed in an Israeli air strike that targeted his car in Southern Gaza.

Hamza was killed in the western part of Khan Younis, Gaza along with journalist Mustafa Thuraya. A third passenger in the car, Hazem Rajab is reported to be seriously injured.

Hamza was travelling near al-Mawasi, a designated safe area towards the southwest when the car was struck by a missile.

According to reports from Al Jazeera correspondents, Hamza and Mustafa’s vehicle was targeted as they were trying to interview civilians displaced by previous bombings.

Hamza, 27, was a journalist like his father. Mustafa was also in his 20s.

In October, Israeli forces killed Wael’s wife, other son, daughter and grandson.

The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate has documented the killing of 102 journalists and the injury of 71 others by Israeli forces since hostilities began in October.
