The government has scrapped agreements with various stakeholders for the construction of domestic airports on cross-subsidy basis.
Speaking at a press conference held at the President's Office this evening to announce the decisions taken at the cabinet meeting held today, Principal Secretary to the President on Public Policy Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim said that out of the proposals to provide finance under cross-subsidy, seven signatories of the finance agreement have not provided finance.
"The Economic Council has also decided to cancel the agreement with them without giving them any more time to pay as they are unlikely to receive the amount by giving them any more time," Nazim said.
Nazim said the Economic Council had earlier decided to give them time to make payments till January.
