State Electric Company (STELCO) has begun the process of conducting a study to assess the power supply in Villimale' and the work needed to develop the system.
The study is part of an agreement signed between the Environment Ministry and STELCO on December 23, 2023.
Stelco said in a post on X today that the research is being carried out jointly by the Company's transmission and distribution department and regional powerhouse department.
According to the agreement signed between STELCO and the Environment Ministry, the challenges of providing electricity services to match the growing demand in Villimale' will be identified, the problems in the existing system and what needs to be done to address these issues.
An action plan will be prepared and submitted to the ministry on how the demand will increase over the next 20 years, efforts to increase the capacity of the system, the investment required for repairs and capacity additions, a project will be prepared and upgraded to repair and upgrade the system.
In addition, information about the land use plan of Villimale' will be provided through the relevant ministry, disclosure of the government's policies for the development and development of the energy, water and sanitation sectors, assistance in obtaining information from various government agencies, and submission of the project and action plan prepared under the agreement to the Economic Council and its endorsement included.
