Sixteen members of the main opposition party MDP have been confirmed parliamentary tickets without a primary.

The MPs were assured tickets as no one else had contested for the party primary.

  • Dhiggaru MP Ikram Hassan
  • Dhandhoo MP Yaugoob Abdulla
  • Gemanafushi MP Ahmed Saeed
  • Fuvahmulah Central MP Hussain Mohamed Didi
  • Hithadhoo North MP Mohamed Aslam
  • Hithadhoo South MP Ibrahim Nazil
  • Galolhu South MP Mikail Ahmed Naseem
  • Henveiru South MP Hussain Shameem
  • Maafannu West MP Mohamed Falah

MDP had opened its nomination slots for the party's parliamentary primaries from December 16 to 25.

According to the party's list released on Monday, 36 candidates have been confirmed party tickets without a primary.
