Commissioner of Police (CP) Ali Shujau has said that traffic problems cannot be resolved by the efforts of the police alone.

Speaking at a news briefing at Iskandar Koshi to announce the work to be done after his appointment, CP Shujau said that traffic problems are a major problem for Male' city and Hulhumale'.

Pointing out that others should also work towards this, CP Shujau said that there should be a cap on the number of vehicles that can be transported in major cities and the age of vehicles should be fixed as well as the maximum number of vehicles that can be registered by a person should be fixed.

"There is a need to increase the number of parking zones and I don't think there will be a solution to the traffic problem without addressing them," he said.

Resolving traffic problems is a presidential pledge of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
