Velana International Airport (VIA), the country's main airport, has increased the parking space for jets to a record number for this winter vacation.

Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) said it has also increased parking space for private jets at VIA, adding 13 spaces in front of the new fuel farm to park the jets and 16 in the western corner and 68 for jet parking alone.

Prior to the change, there were only 39 spaces for jets to be parked at VIA— 13 in the northern apron and 26 in the eastern apron.

Every year, a large number of tourists come to the country during the winter vacations and New Year's Eve, including those arriving in private jets.
