The Ministry of Youth affairs has decided to organize 'Dhivehinge Raajje Festival' to mark the new year.

Speaking at a press conference held today, Youth Minister Ibrahim Waheed said that the new year celebrations usually include a music show but this year the Ministry is organising a festival instead. He added that the festival will include a music show and a laser show.

He also added that a family evening has also been planned for children, senior citizens and families to celebrate the New Year together, to be held on the eve of December 31.

Noting that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu wishes to prioritise Maldivian artists, Minister Ibrahim Waheed said that the new year festival will include Maldivian artists. He added that in future, the government will also work with foreign artists as well.

"Our main aim was to ensure that the first festival of this government's 'Dhivehinge Raajje' festival will be dedicated to local artistes," he said.
